Abstract

Ornamental fish Black Molly (Poecilia sphenops) is a popular ornamental fish of approximately 240 species of freshwater ornamental fish produced in Indonesia. Moreover Black Molly ornamental fish cultivation does not require a large area of land and its reproductive cycle is short. A common problem that is often faced by the community is the emergence of diseases that can cause death and harm cultivators. This study aims to find out the type of parasite, prevalence, intensity and dominance that attacks the ornamental fish Black Molly. This study uses a survey method. The primary data taken were the total length and weight of the fish, the type and number of parasites, and the quality of the water (temperature, pH, DO and ammonia). Black Molly ornamental fish were taken from four ornamental fish seller locations in Mataram City (Pasar Sayang – Sayang, Rembiga Ornamental Fish Market, Bung Karno Red Light, Majapahit Road) 20 samples were obtained. The results of the study showed that 3 types of parasitic parasites were found to attack Black Molly ornamental fish samples, namely Trichodina Sp. Vorticella Sp. and Oodinium Sp. The prevalence rate of parasites obtained ranges from 20 to 40% with frequent to general categories. The parasite intensity values obtained ranged from <1 to 4 individuals/head with very low to low categories. The level of parasite dominance obtained ranged from 25.9% to 44.4%. As for the water quality parameters during the study, the temperature ranged from 24 to 28°C, the pH ranged from 7.1 to 7.5, the DO was 5 -8 mg/L, and the ammonia was 0.1 mg/L.
